When paramedic Rami Abu Lebdah was in the middle of work, he was shocked to find his son arriving at the hospital among the wounded - after Israeli forces struck an area in Rafah that they had designated as a safe area.
Palestinians on the ground say Israel has stepped up its assault on the city of Rafah, in south Gaza Strip. Israel claims Rafah is now a bastion of Hamas combat units. Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that he was "especially alarmed" by reports that the Israeli military intends to focus next on Rafah in Gaza.
Gaza's health ministry says at least 27,840 Palestinians have been confirmed killed since October 7, with thousands more feared buried under rubble.
