PowerPoint has a new (ish) feature that can improve the accessibility of your presentations--live subtitles! In this video, I show you how to set them up (takes only a few seconds) and then do a few different demos for you. The first demo is pretty basic and includes words I expected PowerPoint to handle just fine. The second demo included words that academics and scientists may use, that I think PowerPoint would struggle with (e.g., hierarchical linear modeling). The final demo includes suggestions from folks on Twitter. I also share some limitations to consider.

A lot of people ask me for ideas on how to improve the accessibility of their presentations, especially in #HigherEd. Honestly, avoiding #DeathByPowerpoint is one of the first steps, because those wall of text slides aren't good for anyone. But there's of course more we can do, like adding live subtitles or captions to our presentations. That's why I show you how to do that in PowerPoint, so you can test them out and see if they work well for you. #DrEcho
