Today we're reviewing part number MCL11CAKB from Optronics. This is a Uni-Light mini LED side marker and clearance light with a recessed grommet mount, as you can see here. So all you have to do is slide the grommet over the wire and under the light, and then push the light in and it's nice and snug. And then you push the grommet into the hole that's required for installation. The hole should be 11/16". The diameter of the part is 3/4", so it's going to be a nice, snug fit.
This is waterproof. It's sealed. And the LEDs, of course, are going to last thousands of hours longer than incandescent bulbs. Plus, you have no filaments to burn out and no bulbs to replace. You have an amber light with crystal clear lens, and a 2-wire design.
White is your ground wire. Black is your 12-volt, or lead wire. Now I'm going to connect these wires to our portable power source. We'll do the ground wire first, and then the 12-volt or lead wire. Remember that your ground wire has to be installed on a clean, unpainted metal surface.
Okay Now we're going to turn off our overhead light, and I'll show you how this shines. So as you can see, the LEDs themselves are amber, but the lens over them is clear. Okay, now we can turn on our overhead lights again. And I've disconnected these. This light is PC rated when it's mounted properly at a 45-degree angle.
Then it will serve as both a clearance and a side marker light when it is mounted at the 45-degree angle. It complies with all requirements of the Department of Transportation, and it comes with a lifetime warranty on the LED.
