Frequently we forget about the work done before and after mining operations to make sure that the land provides adequate habitat and is returned to its natural conditions. From the dirt work to the stream remediation and water quality controls, sustainable engineering practices are used to produce wildlife habitat and economically viable lands.

The Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Awards are given out annually to acknowledge those individuals who went above and beyond federal regulations to reclaim habitat on mine property.
