COMMENT

A fairly decent, but uneventful Purple Rain concert. The recording, whilst being pretty average for it's time does unfortunately suffer some problems. As with most recordings of this tour the audience level is a little on the high side - add to that the amount of teenage girls in the audience screaming - and at times (especially the piano segment) the end result is rather painful to listen to. It's not without it's good moments though, and an excellent raw 'Computer Blue' is followed by an extremely lengthy (more than normal) 'When Doves Cry', and finished off with a 25 minute 'Purple Rain'. The inclusion of part of Sheila E's opening act is cool, and is actually of far superior quality than the recording of Prince & The Revolution's set - pity
