On June 18th 2012, four students from Stevenson College Edinburgh (SCE) and four students from the National Institution for Vocational Education (NIVE) in Dubai participated in the International Innovators' Competition. The event was held at the NIVE campus, in the heart of Dubai's Academic City. The competition was a culmination of an 18-month collaborative partnership between the Scottish and Emirati institutions.
This two-year project, which was launched in November 2010, is funded by the British Council's Skills for Employability Programme. This programme supports partnerships that focus on developing education and training programmes to meet the needs of local and global industry. To date, the British Council has facilitated partnerships that have increased employer engagement, promoted entrepreneurship, encouraged student exchanges and developed new qualifications and quality assurance systems. Based on their own creative ideas, SCE students designed and created innovative board games and NIVE students developed and refined original business and marketing plans.
