After the prologue on Friday and the first two major special stages of this year's edition of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, the drivers and teams will move on to the first part of a marathon stage on Monday. For the participants, this means taking the test with caution and being particularly careful with materials.
The plan for this day is a total of 733 kilometers, of which 440 km have to be completed in a classification. The entourage moves from Al Duwadimi through stony sections, along large fields of sand and dunes to Al Salamiya. A mixture of faster and extremely slow passages makes it difficult for the pilots to find a good rhythm.
After the stage, the riders' mechanics are only allowed to work on the motorcycle for two hours to repair any damage or carry out any necessary maintenance. Then we go to the so-called “marathon bivouac”, where the machines have to rest under parc fermé rules until the start of the fourth stage on Tuesday.
