Not every day do you get to see a plane that is over 50 years old! This was definitely the highlight of my most recent Birmingham Airport visit, and one I wasn't expecting to see depart during daylight.
The Antonov AN-12 is quite famous for being known for its insanely smokey engines, and loud humming sounds from the Ivchenko AI-20 engines. The Antonov is a classic Soviet era aircraft which is loved my many enthusiasts like myself
This particular frame, UR-CAJ was departing to Heraklion in Greece presumably with Covid related cargo onboard. To be exact the airframe is 52 years old, built in 1968. Possibly one of the oldest aircraft I have ever seen.
Anyway I thought you'd all enjoy this clip, and if you do enjoy it feel free to hit the like button and share a comment below.
Look out for a special Christmas video next week. I think you'll really like what I'm doing this year
Thanks for watching and stay safe
