This is part 1 of some experimental bioponics growing I did in 2014. I used grass clipping compost to make both compost tea and biochar, and used them together in a modified plain2growsystems.com HydroSock growing jug.
Additionally, I made biochar and a hydroponic medium from peanut shells. Urine was also used as a sterile and powerful NPK (nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium) additive.
Other natural and easy-to-find additives were used to boost the overall performance. The peanut shell biochar appears to be unique and works quite well in providing nutrients, bulking, and to replace both perlite and spahgnum peat moss.
I will add part 2 soon, and sometime in the future I will discuss an easy and different way to make small quantities of biochar.
