Dr. Steven Gygi describes how the new Thermo Fisher Scientific Center for Multiplexed Proteomics at Harvard Medical School plans to enable breakthroughs in important disease research by vastly increasing the number of proteins that can be analyzed in a given timeframe without sacrificing quality of results. The center combines "tandem mass tag" technology pioneered by Dr. Gygi with the novel Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid mass spectrometer to minimize a critical research bottleneck: throughput.
