This webinar will provide family members and caregivers with tools to help their loved one during a mental health crisis. There will be a panel with a family member and a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained police officer who will speak about their experiences.
Jennifer Hughes is an Associate Director of Program Quality Assurance at NAMI NJ. Jennifer began her career as a social worker in 2015 working with youth and families in a school setting. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Jennifer has training in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and program management/evaluation. She completed the Middlesex County Crisis Intervention training for Law Enforcement and is a member of the CIT committee in Middlesex County.
Juliet Hyndman serves on the Executive Committee as 1st Vice President of NAMI Warren County. Juliet is a NAMI Family-to-Family Course graduate, a NAMI Smarts for Advocacy teacher, and represents Warren County for NAMI NJ’s Northern Region Family Support Act Workgroup. Juliet and her husband, Dr. Arnold Hyndman have 4 adult sons, 2 daughters-in-laws, and 4 grandchildren. They are co-pastors of Navah New Covenant Fellowship – a home-based, Hebraic Roots Christian congregation.
Aaron Doherty is a patrolman in the Woodbridge Police department. Aaron participated in Crisis Intervention training in Middlesex County as well as in the San Antonio Police Department. He is now an Active Listening and Role Play instructor for the Middlesex County CIT class, and sits on its planning board. Aaron has also participated in events as a panelist speaking about the Sequential Intercept Model. Advocating for individuals with mental health issues is a personal and professional priority for Aaron, and his mission is to improve the police response.
