► Welcome to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, where we start today's walk across the Millenium Bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral.
► Shakespeare's Globe is a modern replica of the Globe Theatres that stood nearby from 1599 and 1614.
► The modern day Shakepeare's Globe opened in 1997, close to the site of the original theatres and is a world-renowned performing arts venue.
► On our left is the Tate Modern, which makes use of the former Bankside Power Station building that was built in two stages between 1947 and 1963.
► The Tate Modern is the most visited museum in the UK, with a peak of 6.1 million visitors in 2019, which is third in the world.
► Linking London's Bankside to the City of London, the Millennium Bridge is a steel suspension bridge initially opened on 10 June 2000.
► The bridge is a popular part of London's landmarks, with striking views of the city, river, and other London sights.
► Leaving the bridge, we now enter The City of London, which functions as an independent entity, with its own Mayor, elections, police force, and laws.
► Although it is self governed, the City of London is included in the larger London metropolis when referencing the capital of the United Kingdom.
► In front of us is the iconic St Paul's Cathedral. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building.
► At 111 m (365 ft) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1963. The dome remains among the highest in the world.
