The SECURE Act has given us new rules requiring 401(k) plans to cover long-term part-time (LTPT) employees. These changes take effect in 2021 (although the plan need not recognize service before 2021 for eligibility purposes). The IRS has provided some initial guidance in the form of IRS Notice 2020-68 and more is expected. This session will review these new rules Including:
• Eligibility requirements;
• How service must be credited for eligibility and vesting purposes;
• Nondiscrimination testing; and
• Effective date issues.
