Each day, we interact with people from different backgrounds. The
intersectionality of characteristics such as disability, race, ethnicity, religion,
gender identity, and socioeconomic status often influence who we become,
how we participate in society, and how we engage with others who differ
from us.
SIGNA fosters celebration of differences in communication, thinking, and
social ability by pairing neurodivergent college students with peer mentors
and coaches who help them navigate the nuances of college life.
Hearing & Speech Science Faculty work with undergraduate and graduate students to
apply course content on different neurodivergent groups. This unique
clinical experience supports the social, communicative, and cognitive
development of neurodivergent college students through individual and
group sessions as they begin to transition into post-secondary and
professional settings.
If interested in enrollment for services or to get more information about our
unique program, contact the Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences.
