Let me first apologise for having to edit out a short section of the video. The quality was unacceptable because of the appalling weather conditions at the time and the difficulty in operating the camcorder.
Despite this problem, the sight of a Gresley A4 speeding along the East Coast Mainline (which they were designed to do) more than made up for the awful weather.
We first see A4 number 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" (carrying WW2 black livery and LNER number 4498) accelerating up the incline past Arksey loop, a few miles north of Doncaster.
Later that day, we saw the A4 making its return to London from York, passing through Platform 3 of Doncaster station.
"Sir Nigel Gresley" was built at Doncaster by the LNER in 1937.
Recorded on 17th November 2022.
