Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies in the Pilbara: Part 6b. This video was made at a "meeting camp" near the Pilbara community of Bellary in 2002. The boy to be initiated, called a marlulu, is Stuart Ingie junior. After being "grabbed", he had been travelling around the Pilbara gathering a "mob" from other communities who would escort him back to his people who were waiting at the meeting camp. That night, the marlulu would be taken to the men's law ground anwould not return to his waiting family until a month later. After being introduced to the waiting families, the marlulu has a little time to see his friends and family before being taken away, to return a "nuju" and as an intitiated man.
