Super nice looking and ultra slim (3.9mm) miniLED 8K TV. This is a tech demonstrator but it may become the 4th generation on miniLED backlights for TCL.

What we are looking at is a technology demonstrator
This is an 8K Mini LED of course
And this is their 4th generation Mini LED technology
TCL is the pioneer at developing many of the LEDs for TVs
As you can see by the data here it, it’s got over 2000 zones
Over tens of thousands of LEDs
2,000,000 to 1 contrast
The important part here is the 3.99 mm thickness
So let’s come around here and take a look at this thickness over here
This is really really thin as you can see
If I put my fingers here, this is super thin
It’s also very bright
They did not put any specifications on the brightness
But it is clearly very bright
This has also been developed by TCL’s CSOT
Now the 4th generation technology is not being disclosed
But it could be a glass based Active Matrix
Where they put the LEDs on that substrate to make this very thin
It could also be a diffuser plate that’s been embedded with the Quantum dots
And many LEDs can actually be embedded in the diffuser
And then contacts put on top of that
Nanosys has talked about that type of capability
There could be several possibilities for how you could create such a thin display
We hope to hear more from the CSOT in the coming weeks
