What happens when you ventilate a room by opening windows and why does the circulation of fresh air work better in Winter than in Summer? What should be considered when using mobile air purifiers and how can infectious aerosols be removed efficiently from a room? To examine these questions, a precise digital model in 3D of a typical lecture hall was created at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. A medium-sized lecture hall with an area of 115 m2 and a volume of 370 m3 was selected for this purpose. A computer simulation (CFD flow simulation) was used to calculate the diffusion of infectious aerosols in a room of coughing people. A total of six different scenarios were examined.
