Already the best-looking and best-driving midsize crossover on the market, the Mazda CX-5 has suffered from only two common critiques: a lack of power and a lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With the 2019 model, Mazda rectifies both issues.
Two new trims—the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature—receive the turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder from the Mazda CX-9. This powerplant produces 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque when running on 93-octane gas, and 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular gas. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD), the turbocharged CX-5 returns 22 mpg city/ 27 highway/ 24 combined.
Inside the CX-5 sports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment on all but the base Sport trim. Cargo space remains limited compared with the competition, at just 30.9 cubic feet behind the rear seat. However, rear- and front-seat legroom shouldn’t leave anyone too uncomfortable.
Mazda has also made its i-ActiveSense suite of safety features standard across the trim lineup. This adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and other niceties like automatic headlights, wipers, and high beams.
Pricing for the Mazda CX-5 starts at an attractive $24,350 but can rise all the way to Signature’s $36,890 MSRP. For more information on the 2019 Mazda CX-5, read Mike’s full review on CarGurus: [ Ссылка ]
