The governor visited the collapse site in Busa Buji and hospitals treating the injured, also mandating the arrest of artisanal miners operating near residential areas. Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, Governor Mutfwang pledged state support for the medical costs of injured students. The government has declared a three-day mourning period from July 13 to 15, 2024, with flags flown at half-mast to honour the victims.
