Shannah and Phil provide a walkthrough of the Emmerdale Waltz Sequence Dance. The dance to music can be found on our YouTube channel or via our website [ Ссылка ]
This 1979 arrangement by WJ Crook (sometimes called the Ennerdale Waltz) is one of the golden oldies of the sequence dances, found in the programmes of most popular sequence dances. It is very classical in nature with solo turns, points and double hand hold, but it also includes many standard waltz figures such as whisk, wing and telemark.
In my experience, pupils can find the 2 hovers confusing, often getting mixed up as to which one they are dancing! So - the first one is in double hand hold so there is enough room to step through to whisk. The second is a hover in promenade position, so the couple remain in promenade position in ballroom hold, thereby making the exit to contra check easier.
Happy dancing!
