Oxford is just less than an hour from London Paddington via GWR trains. If you travel off peak or on the weekends tickets are relatively cheaper. Or if you book in advance. But if you miss your train on an advance ticket, you won't be refunded.
oxford city is a delightful university town full of great architecture, medieval and historical buildings.
I have visited the city's highlights, the same as when you are pressed for time. But you can visit most colleges. Some may ask for entry fees, like Christ Church, the Divinity School, and Christ Church picture gallery.
I forgot to drop by Blackwell, Oxford's largest bookstore, St John's College, and The Eagle and Child Pub, frequented by Oxford's literary society. So make sure to check them out and have fun!!
