Traveling Australia can be very rewarding but there are a few risks out there amongst it that you can't control. Just one of those is contaminated fuel. Macca from What's up Downunder is here with Gav to talk about the Diesel Care fuel filter systems.
Diesel Care do a range of filter kits to fit all the modern common rail diesel engines. Its cheap insurance. If you are traveling and you happen to pick up a bad batch of fuel you've got an extra line of protection there to stop it from getting through to the fuel system.
When we talk about contaminated fuel what sort of stuff is in the fuel?
We're talking about water, particulate matter and algae. They are the main killers of fuel systems.
This contaminated fuel what can it do to our engine?
If the contamination gets through to your fuel system such us your pump or injectors they can cause them to fail and that becomes an expensive repair on these later model diesels.
Looks like there is a fair bit of work in it, could I do it myself?
Yes you can do it yourself. They are designed as a D.I.Y. Kit so that the bracket is specific to the different vehicles, all the hoses that you need to fit the filter up to are included. There is no drilling of holes, its all existing mounting points on the brackets and it comes with instructions.
If you want to protect your trip and your vehicle then its worth the insurance in purchasing an additional filter kit.
