Imari is the European name for Japanese porcelain wares made in the town of Artia and exported from the port of Imari situated in the west coast of Japan. The dynamic change and instability of China in the mid 17th century created a gap in the porcelain market, which became increasingly international throughout the century. This Imari plate shows the true characteristic of early days Chinese Arita porcelain features. Beautifully hand painted in iron red, blue, enamel red and gold gilded amidst deep cobalt blue is a collector's piece of Imari plate. Beautifully painted in a circle of blue, whilst the three large rays of hand painted section show case the intricate paintings of flowers and vines and stylised floral vignettes interposed. This rare Japanese/Chinese plate is Ideal for museum and collectors.
