The Kenya Forest Service in Meru has intensified patrols in the Mt Kenya forest in fight against illegal logging. This follows concerns raised by a section of members of the community in Buuri Sub County that KFS officers were abetting destruction of indigenous trees in the World heritage site.
Meru Ecosystem Conservator Evans Maneno said 22 illegal loggers have been arrested in Ontulili, Sirimon and Kangaita sections of Mt Kenya forest.
