Customer from Staines got in touch saying that her husband locked himself out and that even though she was inside the house she couldn't operate the lock as it was stuck with the lever not moving.
As soon as I got there and I was the lock I knew this was going to be one of those jobs :) hard and messy. Luckily they had a massive ground floor window me and her husband used to get in and out the house easily :d Tried the key, not working, tried the lever on the inside not working... told the customer that given the fact that this is a auto deadlocking high security lock it's more or less impossible to get it of the door without further damage to the lock, but being already broken there wasn't any other way of opening the door so it had to be done. Before taking the grinder to it I gave it a couple more minutes and manage to open it from the inside against all odds with a bit of rough manipulation.
Customer happy that I didn't fill the house with smoke, me happy because I dreaded having to do it too :) if you know you know.
Once off the door spotted the broken part quite easily and because is was just around Christmas time the customer decided not to replace it and just use it without the deadlocking function. I did tell him the ups and downs of this but he decided that this is what they wanted.
Customer happy... everyone happy... onto the next job.
Best regards,
