You should own a Lorier watch at some point of the watch hobby.
You don’t need to keep it forever but wearing it really helps to understand watches from a design point of view. And when you learn this lesson you can move on, go up the tier list and get most of your money back. The Gemini is about 400$ in America or closer to 600$ in the European Union, due to high shipping costs and taxes. And if you could put the price on the design and looks the Lorier Gemini would be a bargain. It brilliantly captures the soul of vintage omegas, without the hassle of dealing with an old, beat up watch. All the shapes, angles and facets are on point and everything is composed according to the vintage design language without looking phony or overdone. And from a wrist check distance it’s just perfect.
Yes, the details are not there and under the macro the savings are obvious. The specs are very basic and the bezel action sucks. Seagull manual movement works well most of the time. But then again, who cares about the specs in Pateks, Royal Oaks, Vacherons? Movements and water resistances never were the focus point in watches. It’s always been about bold looks, not numbers. This is what the affordable brands like Seiko and Orient don’t seem to understand. And Lorier pulls off perfectly for a bargain of a price. So close down your Excel spreadsheets and enjoy the real beauty of the watch hobby.
Special thanks to Sam from Rock Creek that went threw the hassle of sending me this piece from Canada.
