"A Korean Odyssey" (also known as "Hwayugi") is a South Korean television series that premiered in 2017. It is a modern retelling of the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West" and is directed by Park Hong-kyun and Kim Jung-hyun.
The story revolves around Son Oh-gong, a powerful and mischievous deity who has been imprisoned for centuries by a curse. In order to be released from his confinement, he must seek the help of a human, Jin Seon-mi, who has the ability to see spirits. As Son Oh-gong and Jin Seon-mi embark on a journey together, they encounter various otherworldly creatures and obstacles.
