Creatonotos gangis, the Baphomet Moth or Australian horror moth, is a species of arctiine moth in South East Asia and Australia.
This is one of Australia’s strangest insects.
The Baphomet moth is named after the supernatural being. He's a bad boy. And the females come to him.
You see, the males have four large, grey-colored coremata, which are structures they inflate to attract females.
The pheromones these structures produce serve as both aphrodisiacs and tranquilizers to the females.
The females don't stand a chance.
What do you think about one of Australia's strangest insects.
