Giniel de Villiers took his first stage win of this years Dakar Rally in a frantic stage 9. It wasn’t the only success for the teams supported by Eurol as two of De Villiers’ teammates climbed onto the podium as well.

Toyota GAZOO Racing had one of it’s most successful days in the Dakar Rally to date with a podium lockout on stage 9. Giniel de Villiers won the stage after a solid day, Henk Lategan followed shortly after him. The compatriots were separated by just 9 seconds at the finish of the fast stage around Wadi Ad-Dawasir.

Overall leader Nasser Al-Attiyah bounced back after his troubles on Monday and recorded a 3rd place in the stage. Overall his lead is still over 39 minutes. Shameer Variawa was the last driver of Toyota GAZOO Racing who’s had a decent day. He finished in 11th place.
