RESTORATION OF Oil Can Oiler Antique Dented Oiler - Perfect Restoration
In this video i'm restoring very rusty dented oiler.
i found this can oiler in the steel waste at the recycling station. It almost rust every where, it was very dirty and had a lot of dents. The tricky part of this restoration was definitely the removing of all the dents in the can oiler. I want to say thank you to my friend who helped me with this , I'm very happy how it turned out and I really like the new look of the can oiler. I'll keep this antique can oiler in my shop and I'm going to use it from now on.
I hope you like my work and the Perfect Restoration video.
Process:
Firstly I disassemble the oiler and emptied any oil inside. I then degreased all of the parts to remove any dirt, grease, or oil.'. Then, I removed the rust with Jenolite Rust Remover and a wire wheel. Once all of the rust had been removed,i remove the oil Can paint with fire I masked the parts that needed it and proceded to etch and prime the main pieces. Once dry I used U-Pol's Fantastic Filler to fill any small dents in the main can oiler. I then sanded the high-build primer and filler in preparation for the basecoat. For the basecoat, I needed to mix yellow and red to get the desired shade of orange. Once the main parts were degreased and tac clothed, I applied three coats of base and three coats of lacquer. Once dry, I removed any masking tape and got started on the new gasket. I need to get a proper gasket punch set, but they are expensive. Soon. Once that was ready I placed it in and drilled out the hole for the pump trigger. It was then a matter of reassembling the oiler and giving it a test. The restoration was then complete.
