To begin, the story behind the Allard, like many other car companies
has an interesting history.
An Englishman by the name of Sydney Allard who started much like Enzo Ferrari. Racing! Built and raced cars for road racing and hill climbs.
What made Sydney different was that instead of putting 4 and 6 cylinder British engines in his cars he would use American V-8’s.
He began building cars for customers and let the customers choose the power plant.
Cars were built to race or for the road.
For example, the J2X model in the Classic Cars Journal article below features a 331 Cu. In. Cadillac V-8. The car I am featuring has a Chrysler 354 Cu. In. Hemi engine.
Many professional drivers drove an “Allard” including Caroll Shelby, before he developed his own automobile. It’s very popular that Shelby got many of his own ideas by being associated
with Allard.
