Did you know Ontario's climate and soil are ideal for growing soybeans? In fact, Ontario's soybean harvest is a big reason why Canada is one of the top producers of the protein-packed bean. In just one year, the amount of soy harvested in this country could make over ten billion blocks of tofu.
Jeff Barlow runs a soy farm in Binbrook, Ont. Since 1843, his family has cultivated the same plot of land he works today. Every year, he produces more than a million kilograms of soybeans. Barlow hopes the booming soy industry will help continue his family's farming legacy for the next 150 years.
Follow chef Ricardo Larrivée as he learns what goes into growing and harvesting this versatile bean.
