(17 Apr 2017) Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari arrived in India on Monday for a five-day state visit, her first foreign visit after assuming office in 2015.
She will meet top Indian officials on Tuesday, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Relations between Nepal and India have been strained since Bhandari came to power because of ethnic protests in southern Nepal, near the Indian border.
Members of the Madhesi ethnic group, which has close ties with India, protested for months and blocked the border, demanding changes in Nepal's new constitution.
India supported the border blockade and the Madhesis by restricting exports to Nepal.
