On 6 June 2019 the International Union of Railways (UIC), together with railway industry stakeholders, road authorities, academics and international institutions will meet for the launch of the 11TH edition of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD).
Every year, ILCAD partners select an overarching theme for the awareness campaign. This year, the message will focus on “professional drivers”.
Our accident-prevention message for 2019 is: “The most important stop of the day!”
At this occasion and with the kind contribution of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP PLK) UIC produced a series of 3 videos based on CCTV footage of near misses, or collisions of various long or heavy vehicles in Poland. The objective is to aware professional drivers (of buses, coaches, trucks, industry, farming or emergency vehicles) of the risks that they may encounter at level crossings and the severe consequences that errors or misbehavior may cause.
