(22 Feb 2018) NEW YORK CITY RESTAURANT CELEBRATES NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY WITH $2,500 DRINK TO BENEFIT VICTIMS OF FLORIDA SCHOOL SHOOTING
A restaurant in New York City is serving what they call the most expensive margarita in America to celebrate National Margarita Day on Thursday (22FEB2018).
But the $2,500 drink is not just about feeling good - it's also about doing good. Sammy Musovic, owner of the Selena Rosa Restaurant which is concocting the pricey drink, says proceeds from the cocktail will go to victims of the Parkland, Florida school shooting.
The record-breaking drink was created by Mexican-American bartender Marco Antonio, and inspired by the historic 70th anniversary of the cocktails' invention.
Musovic is serving the drink alongside caviar tacos and other contemporary Mexican-fusion delicacies. The upper-class cocktail is made with Clase Azul Ultra Anejo Tequila, which costs over $1,500 per 750ML retail. The drink is rimmed with a blend of exclusive Mexican-salts, and garnished with a fresh-cut lime and spiral-cut jalapeño, skewered by a mini beach umbrella, and complimented by rose petals.
"All the proceeds from the $2,500 margaritas that we sell will go to the charities in Florida, so anyone who's payiing $2,500 we're sending the check to Florida," said Musovic.
The drinks will be served through the weekend.
