In today's entertainment industry where television shows are premiered and cancelled at a breakneck pace, it's hard to imagine a time when a TV show had a chance to actually grow on an audience. Such was the case with the now-iconic sitcom Taxi, an 18-time Emmy award winning series that focused on the workaday world of a handful of New York City taxi cab drivers, as well as their humorously ruthless dispatcher. Created by Hollywood heavyweight James L. Brooks (producer of The Mary Tyler Moore Show), Taxi chronicled the daily lives of the employees of the Sunshine Cab Company, a fictional taxi service in Manhattan.
