The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says the federal government’s in principle agreement with French submarine company Naval Group is “really a good news story”.
The agreement guarantees 60 per cent spending in Australia throughout the construction of 12 attack-class submarines.
“I am alone amongst center-right commentator’s in thinking these submarines are the best submarines we could possibly get and the price for them is entirely reasonable,” Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“If you decide you’re going to build 12 cutting edge world-class technology submarines in Australia, it’s going to cost you a lot of money.”
