1.You have no clue what you want to study by the time you graduate high school. It can feel overwhelming or almost like you’re left out since all your friends seem to know exactly what they want to study. You might just be feeling a little unsure of your life’s purpose.

2. A foundation year can give you pre- courses before you actually declare what you want to study for a minimum of three years. This can be a good thing because either if you like the subject or not, you learn something about what it is you truly want to study or not.

3. Maybe you don’t meet the minimum entry requirements to get into your top choice. Most universities will have a foundation year which will give you priority to go into year one after completing it successfully.

4. Instead of taking a gap year, a foundation year might be the solution. You’re not exactly doing a full rigorous program, yet you not just sitting at home doing nothing. It can help you ease into the university lifestyle especially if you seem to not be ready to enter into year one.
