Edward Stephen Hall (born 15 January 1988) is an English former professional strongman, notable for winning the World's Strongest Man 2017 competition[3] and for being the world record deadlift holder, lifting 500 kg (1,102 lb; 79 st) under strongman rules, which he achieved in 2016.[4] His record was broken by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson’s 501kg on May 2, 2020.[5][6][7] He has also won on multiple occasions both the UK's Strongest Man and England's Strongest Man titles.

The world record for a partial deadlift in a strongman competition is 535 kg / 1180 pounds) by Tom Magee. This happened in the 1983 World's Strongest Man competition.
