As a speeding trailer struck the bus, at least seven people perished and nearly ten more were hurt. The incident took place in the Shahzadpur region of the Ambala district, close to the village of Kakkar Majra. The deceased have been named as Jwala (34), his wife Rinki (32), their sons Prince (age 8) and Prashant (age 6), Raheesh Khan, and Badan Singh. One of the deceased's identities is still unknown. The majority of the bus's passengers were workers.
