Believe it or not, but the 2025 Hyundai i30 N is now a veteran in the hot hatch segment, with rivals like the Toyota GR Corolla and Honda Civic Type R a generation newer. That said, the plucky South Korean model is still trying to hold its own with yet another model-year update, albeit a fairly minor one.
So, what's changed with the i30 N? Well, it gets new grille and air intake inserts, with the latter getting red highlights alongside the side skirts. Inside, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster has also been added, among other changes. But more importantly, the popular eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission now costs the same as the pioneering six-speed manual gearbox.
In this track test, CarsGuide Managing Editor Tim Nicholson travels to Germany to drive the pre-update but mechanically identical i30 N at the infamous Nurburgring racetrack to find out how well it measures up against The Green Hell.
