Dr. Alyson Kelvin, scientist at USask’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), received a CIHR-CEPI Leadership Award for Excellence in Vaccine Research for Infectious Diseases of Epidemic Potential to develop a universal coronavirus vaccine.
Kelvin will identify similarities in the immune responses triggered by different coronaviruses (e.g., SARS-CoV variants of concern, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus, future coronaviruses) to develop a universal coronavirus vaccine to help control future potential pandemics.
