Keynote by Ewan Birney:
"Genomics, Imaging, and AI. Three technologies which are changing basic research and clinical practice"
Abstract:
The landscape of biological science has been changing over the last two decades. Genomics and Imaging are the two dominant high dimensional measurement technologies for living systems. They provide complex, high dimensional data which can be utilised in a variety of ways. Coupled with this the rise of Machine Learning, including the application of Deep neural networks and other technologies grouped as artificial intelligence has given a new toolkit to navigate, explore and provide understanding of this data. In this talk I will outline this change and opportunity for this field.
