A WTE boiler can have different problems such as to much ash builds up in SH area resulting in increasing DP and decreasing heat transfer, or build-ups of ash in the empty passes with increasing flue gas temperatures resulting in high corrosion, or blockage in the electrostatic precipitator. All this influence on the efficiency of the boiler, in certain time the boiler efficiency will go down because of the fouling in the boiler.
