Marketing with postcards has long been – and continues to be – one of the most popular, and affordable ways to generate Leads for your real estate business. In our fast growing digital era, the sheer tangibility of mail is becoming more and more rare, which makes direct mail, still very effective.
What are Postcards?
- Variety of Direct Mail
- Varies in size
- Small, Precise, simple low-cost sales tool
- Allows more creativity than yellow letters - but both effective
Why Postcards work?
- Higher “read rates” - easier to read at a glance and there’s no envelope to open.
- Very Targeted - Postcards can focus on specific zip codes, carrier routes, residences or business-to-business, sent to households of certain income brackets, property values, ages, purchasing habits, lifestyles, hobbies and even demographics.
- Quick and Easy - You can quickly create a postcard campaign without a big investment in time or money.
- Getting your postcards printed and mailed to either your own mailing list or one you buy is a snap with one of the web-based services
- Rates are highly competitive and you can get your cards printed and mailed in a few days.
- Not just mailed, can be used as a handout at REIA
What to say in your Postcard
- Keep it simple and concise - Imagine each word costs you an additional $100.
- Use attractive headlines - “100% Cash Offers and Fast Closings For Your Convenience”
- Include website, or phone number, doesn’t need to have your name.
- Include a deadline - time sensitive - “If you call this week, you’ll be put on my exclusive buyer’s list, and will get first dibs before everyone else.”
- Intrigue, don’t close
- Don’t try to explain everything, and be sure to include multiple ways to contact you
- Multi-faceted - Think outside the box. Run coupon promotions, reminders, open houses, tickets to an open house to claim a free “something”.
- Main goal is to evoke an action - “Go Here”, “Check This Out”, “Watch the video…”
Formatting Postcards
- Start with a catchy headline
- Use both sides - address side vs. back side
- Keep It simple, but attractive
- Try not to look like an Ad - bright colors, tons of pictures, crazy fonts - less is more
- Avoid jumbled information
- Testimonials?
How to get Postcards done and mailed?
- Do it all yourself
- Pay someone to design the postcards for you and mail
- Use a paid postcard service
