Episode Two of the Tube Mandrel Spider project. Using a Superglue Chuck on the lathe to machine thin brass retention washers to an exact thickness. How could I not have called it SPIDERMANDREL??? Probably because of fear of a takedown by Marvel or Sony corporate lawyers!
Someone's going to moan about me inhaling all that dangerous cyanoacrylate vapour, aren't they? Special points for spotting when I wasn't wearing gloves to avoid criticism by health and safety snowflakes, and as a DIRECT result, managed to glue my finger to the workpiece. I keep special cyanoacrylate solvent on hand for those occasions. Someone's going to tell me that stuff is poisonous or causes pregnancy or bad breath or something, aren't they?
This is a short update owing to the weather here in Yorkshire on Jan 2 2022 being sunny and gorgeous, so I'm going to walk my Chihuahuas instead of machining things or editing videos.
* No spiders were harmed as a result of making this video
** I like spiders and I catch flies for the big ones that live in my workshop
Any Fly Protection League activists about? Please just don't. I get enough criticism about nitrile gloves.
*** I am also kind to bees, wasps, parasitic flies, moths, butterflies and most other insects. Apart from mites, fleas, ticks, mealy bugs, scale insects, warbles, mozzers, midges, aphids, vine weevils and those things that carry Dutch Elm disease. They can do one. Or be eaten by a friendly spider.
