A guitar or bass nut can be tricky to get right. Too high and it'll feel uncomfortable to fret on the first few frets and hinders tuning, to low and it make your strings rattle and buzz a goodn'. The Nut can easily become too low as the string through it acts like a saw as it moves through it wether you're tuning, tremoloing or just using the bendy every once in a while;-).
