"I am a military, I am going to war to fight," said Ukrainian Rosa Bilousova as she waited to board a train back to Lviv from Poland on Saturday.
As thousands of refugees continue to arrive in Poland fleeing the Russian invasion, some are choosing to return home.
Bilousova was among those boarding the train in Przemysl, 10 kilometers from the Medyka border crossing with Ukraine.
She works and lives in Poland, but has decided to go back to Ukraine to join the Territorial Defense Forces reservists and medical personnel in Odesa.
"I have a three years of military experience. Now I am going to defend Ukraine. There is nothing for me to do in Poland now," she said, adding "Ukraine is most important for me know. My husband is back home and together we will go and fight."
Bilousova already has military training, she explains.
"I have already held a machine gun, that is why I need to fight for Ukraine. If not us, who (will fight) then?" she said.
According to Polish border authorities 238,000 Ukrainians crossed back into their country since the start of the war, many are joining the local combat forces, but it is unclear how many effectively went back to stay since many go in an out to bring supplies.
The fighting has led more than 3. 3 million people to flee Ukraine, the U.N. estimates. The death toll remains unknown, though Ukraine has said thousands of civilians have died.
According to border authorities Poland hit 2 million refugees mark on Friday.
