Plastic pollution has become a major environmental crisis and if we don’t change our habits now there will be more plastic in the Ocean than fish by the year 2050.
This fact has triggered a growing amount of plastic bans put in place all over the US and worldwide.
And according to the 2019 Retail and Sustainability Survey more than 2/3 of consumers are now considering sustainability when making a purchase.
By product comparison Foodstiks is the most sustainable alternative to plastic for a number of reasons, but mainly because it is the only product that naturally decomposes in a natural setting like a backyard compost or even if carelessly left behind at the beach or a park.
Compostable Plastics on the other hand only compost in commercial facilities within a certain heat range.
That essentially means that even if a product is labeled “certified compostable” it does not actually break down in a backyard compost or the natural environment.
Unfortunately, of the 5,000 composting facilities currently only a few are set up to process compostable plastics and the majority of them decline them because, because they might have been confused with traditional plastic.
The sad truth about compostable plastics is, that they mostly end up in landfills where they can take many if not hundreds of years to degrade.
In a natural environment they would cause as much harm as traditional plastics.

But wood? What about cutting down trees? Wood is actually one of the most sustainable raw materials there is. It is renewable, absorbs CO2 while growing and creates habitat for wildlife.
FOODSTIKS are produced in our hygienic state of the art facility with the capacity to produce 75 million pieces per month. We are also a member of the Plastic Pollution Coalition and donate parts of our proceeds to fight plastic pollution and support reforestation projects.
Our Foodservice line offers individual pieces and 4 pc sets in bulk packaging.
Our patent pending dispenser will be available by the end of 2020. It will reduce both, waste and contamination associated with bulk dispensing.
Our retail line features 3 SKUs with a 24 piece mixed set and individual sets of forks or spoons as well as a 60 piece mixed carton with 20 pieces of each forks, spoons and knives. With a growing demand we are looking to introduce a picnic set that includes a mixed set of cutlery as well as a 9” plate made from birch wood.
